During the meeting Mark handed out proposals to the dignitaries from Brandon Lewis's office/ GYBC/ GYBS/ NCA/ Mott MacDonald/ Keep Britain Tidy/ NCC/ Police/ NSPT and the Broads Authority to back the project, this was not by means of funding just backing.

96ktogether (first meeting)

Community Connections hosted the 96ktogether Meeting on Wednesday the 11th of August to discuss the future of Tar Works road in Great Yarmouth. Mark Llewellyn From Community Connections/96ktalkback chaired the meeting where dignitaries from Brandon Lewis's office/ GYBC/ GYBS/ NCA/ Mott MacDonald/ Keep Britain Tidy/ NCC/ Police/ NSPT and the Broads Authority attended.

Tar works road is known to many as a fly tipping site and as a rat run for cutting through traffic that builds up on Lawn Avenue during peak times. Mark Llewellyn organised the clean up project in May last year which left the area looking in better condition, but over the year fly tipping, dog fouling and encroachment from surrounding vegetation has seen the area once again look an eyesore.

This time Mark is pushing for more conservation work rather than just a tidy up. Tar Works Road is an unadopted road  and therefore does not come under the normal remit for the area so Eammon Scully from NSPT stepped in and said he could provide the workforce from Community Payback and  Miss Callister from the Broads Authority said she has 50 volunteers that could also help. The work is not foreseen as an over night project but one that would last for many months, cutting the over growth back and removing it from the site will require funding and cooperation from all the agencies that attended the meeting.

The erection of bollards could see the end of Tar Works Road being used as a rat run allowing the area to be replanted and used more as a conservation area with cycle routes to and from town centre which could tie in with the Bridge Project by Norfolk County Council and Mott MacDonald. These  improvements could see the area used more by locals and tourists.

The next meeting is scheduled for the 25th of August
