Workshop information for participants
The Active Citizenship 2-day workshop is designed exclusively for young people in the Great Yarmouth area who want to get their voices heard.
By the end of the workshop, you as participants will know WHAT IT MEANS to be an active citizen and how to GET ACTIVE regarding issues that concern you the most!
Throughout the 2-day workshop you will…
· Develop your ability to form your own opinion and think for yourself
· See things from other points of view
· Learn to win arguments using facts rather then just opinions
· Be able to resolve conflicts fairly and successfully
· Feel like you can talk confidently about issues that matter to you
· Know how to take part in your community, locally in Great Yarmouth and globally
· Be able to state your opinions clearly and have them heard
· Know how to develop your own ideas for change and act upon them
· Know how to make a positive contribution to society
· Be able to make a difference to your world!
Day 1: Are you an Active Citizen?: Interactive workshop
Date: Wednesday 23rd Feb 2011
Time: 9:30am til 3.30pm
Venue: Great Yarmouth Central Library, Tolhouse Street, Great Yarmouth
Lunch and refreshments provided
Day 2: Citizenship in Action:
Date: Thursday 24th Feb 2011
Time: 7:30am til 8pm
Venue: London
Pick up: Bus stop outside BHS Great Yarmouth, leaving at 7:30am promptly (please be there for 7:15am)
Drop off: Bus stop outside BHS Great Yarmouth, arriving for approximately 8pm
Lunch, travel and refreshments provided
All participants should be between 14 and 25 years old, and be keen to participate constructively in an interactive and fun learning environment. Under 18’s will need consent from a parent or carer.
NOTE: A limited amount of places are available for support workers/ teachers/youth workers to accompany participants who feel they may need a familiar face nearby. Please get in touch for details and availability.
