Community Music East (CME) was established in 1985 to develop and run workshop programmes to help a broad range of client groups in the community including children and adults with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities, people with mental health problems, young people at risk as well as the general public. Currently the region's leading community music organisation CME has 36 members of staff and a stack of percussion, string, brass and electronic instruments, as well as recording and multimedia equipment with the latest laptop sequencing technology and digital video cameras.
Objectives
* To increase opportunities, primarily for people who may be disadvantaged either socially, economically or culturally; to develop self-esteem, self-confidence, and a feeling of value and achievement from involvement in music-making.
* To train practising musicians to become workshop tutors.
* To develop a Community Music Centre and recording studio for Norfolk and Norwich.
Workshops and Projects
Many of the workshops and courses are designed so that anyone can participate - no previous musical experience is needed.
