ALL ABOARD! SWITCHOVER HELP SCHEME ROADSHOW STARTS TOUR OF ANGLIA
Face to face information and advice available for older and disabled people about digital switchover
The team from the BBC-run Switchover Help Scheme will be visiting locations in Anglia to offer older and disabled residents advice about the practical help they can receive to switch to digital TV.
The Switchover Help Scheme bus will be visiting locations across Anglia to spread the word about the Switchover Help Scheme which can make switching to digital TV easier for those who may struggle with the digital switchover.
Anyone who would like to find out more information can drop in to one of the following locations where a Help Scheme advisor can talk you through everything you need to know about the Switchover Help Scheme:

Regional Manager for the Switchover Help Scheme in Anglia, Sarah Barrett, said ”We offer help to every eligible in the region by writing to them directly. All eligible people will receive an information pack that clearly explains all the options available to them and the Help Scheme Bus provides an excellent opportunity to simply find out more information.
“We are urging people to drop in and speak to our team face-to-face, where they can also try out digital equipment first hand, receive help filling out a Switchover Help Scheme application form and ask the team any questions.”
The Help Scheme offers eligible people everything they need to convert one TV set to digital including:
• Easy to use equipment to convert one set
• An approved installer to supply and install the necessary equipment, and
• A 12 month aftercare service including a free helpline
People are eligible for the Help Scheme if they are:
- Aged 75 or over, or
- Have lived in a care home for six months or more, or
- Get (or could get):
o Disability Living Allowance (DLA), or
o Attendance or Constant Attendance Allowance, or
o Mobility supplement, or
- Are registered blind or partially sighted
The standard option is a Freeview digital box. Most people will be asked to pay £40 towards the standard option of help. For eligible people who are also on pension credit, income support, income-based jobseeker's allowance or income-related employment and support allowance, the help is free.
