Gorleston Beach Rescue

22 Jun 2010

Let this be a lesson to young drivers - you don't have to go there - be safe - live longer.

This young driver had to be rescued from his car overhanging the beach at the end of the promenade. What was he doing there? The car was close to the end of the 'road', the railings were broken through and the car was poking over as if it had come down from the cliff top above.

Three fire engines, the coastguard, two ambulances and two police cars were in attendance at 6pm Sunday. A crowd had gathered in the car park above as at least 14 uniformed rescue workers freed him from his new looking hatchback, and took him off to hospital strapped to the stretcher. No-one watching knew what had happened. Chased there or driven there himself?

The promenade drive is not open to cars generally. It is purely for the enjoyment of pedestrians and cyslists.

We hope the driver recovers quickly and soon
