Chairman - PETER KIRKPATRICK, a prominent community worker from Ormesby and Chairman of the Rural North Tenants and Residents Association. “Party politics rules Great Yarmouth and I don’t like it. That’s where an elected Mayor may help to redress the balance.”

Guest Speaker: TONY EGGINTON, Elected Mayor for Mansfield - first elected in 2002 and re-elected twice since then. “The people of Great Yarmouth deserve the only form of governance that gives them a greater opportunity to shape the place in which they live, work and socialise and also allows them to influence the way in which front line services are delivered”
With supporting speakers:

RALPH CHILDS - a prominent Yarmouth businessman who is keen to see local people given the chance to elect a Mayor to lead the Borough Council. “Make no mistake - many projects have been started by elected councils over the years - but too many have not been completed or have been left needing adjustments made to them  (ripping out the heart of a town - which is supposed to welcome holiday trade - by putting in residents parking is an example).  I see the person THE RIGHT person leading us back to being GREAT Yarmouth.”

MICK CASTLE - Leader of the Opposition on Great Yarmouth Borough Council (speaking in his own right and not on behalf of the local Labour Party). “Elected Mayors are the future for Britain’s major towns and cities. They have a special mandate from the people that ordinary council leaders chosen by their fellow councillors just don’t have. I am really proud to have been part of the campaign here in Yarmouth for a “YES” vote. This is a place with a real sense of its own identity and a proud tradition of running its own affairs.”

ANTHONY (Tony) HARRIS, a long-time LIBERAL DEMOCRAT activist is pleased to support the YES to a Great Yarmouth Elected Mayor campaign “The response from the Town has been very positive about having an Elected Mayor - it would make decision-making really accountable to the electorate.” Tony is married with two grown-up children, works as a pharmacist at the James Pager Hospital and has lived locally for over 25 years.

REX  PARKINSON-HARE, UKIP County Councillor for Yarmouth Nelson and Southtown. “I believe that the people of Yarmouth are more than capable of choosing the right person to fill that role.”
MARIE FIELD, a LABOUR Borough Councillor, a very prominent in the successful petition campaign in 2009-10 and keeper of the campaign purse. “There are already 13 Elected Mayors across England and there are likely to be another 13 by next year. If it was a crazy, useless idea then Elected Mayors would have died a sad death by now. I honestly believe that it will be a breath of fresh air for the Great Yarmouth Community - a People’s Choice.”

NIAMH  NEWMAN - lives in Gorleston and works in Norwich, a young person who sees the introduction an Elected Mayor as being  vital to making local politics relevant to people of all ages  with a new-style Mayor elected by all 70,000 local voters and not by as few as just 20 Councillors.
