Hopton’s new village hall complex update
Hopton-on-Sea celebrated a milestone this week (14 May 2010) as the new village hall complex was ‘topped out’ on completion of the roof structure.
The £717,000 project, funded by grants from the Big Lottery of £484,000, £50,000 from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), £50,000 from Great Yarmouth Borough Council, £5,000 from NALC (National Association of Local Councils) with the remainder funded by the Village Hall Management Trust, local businesses and residents, and support from the Parish Council.
The new complex will provide facilities for local residents and the wider community, with a diverse range of activities including educational courses, sporting activities, children’s groups, dances and plenty more to cater for all age ranges and abilities. Completion of the new build is due towards the end of August with activities commencing in September 2010.
