We met up with Brandon Lewis at one of his Surgeries and got to know the Person behind the MP
Q. We know your Father had a business in Great Yarmouth what was the business
A. Great Yarmouth's Docwra Rock Factory
Whilst talking to Brandon it wasn’t hard to see that he had fond memories of this time and went on to talk about other memorable time’s such as Freddie Star being told he must end his show on time, only to state on stage that he decides when his show will end.
Q. Seems you spent so much time in Great Yarmouth did you attend school in the borough.
A. Most of the time Brandon spent in Great Yarmouth seemed to have been during the holiday period so he didn’t attend school in the borough he attended Forest School an independent school on the edge of Epping Forest, in Walthamstow
Q. When did you move to Great Yarmouth
A. We brought a house in 2006 and the house was finished in 2007
Q. What age was you when you got married.
A. I got married at the age of 28
Q. Where is your wife from
A. London
Q. What made you come back to Great Yarmouth?
A. My name was on the A list of MPs for the area and after 3 rounds of interviews I was awarded the post
Q. What are you hoping to achieve for the borough of Great Yarmouth
A. To raise the profile,
Great Yarmouth has so much more to offer, we need to make people see it.
The bridge and train station are the first thing's people see when entering Great Yarmouth not only the tourists but locals as well, hopefully the bridge project will help regenerate the area.
Q. Could you tell me what happened to the plans with regards to the roll on, off ferry
A. The economy is not as good as it was when talks for the roll on ferry were discussed. Should we be lucky with the large casino there may well be talks with regards to a roll on ferry in the future.
Q. Why it is the south end of the marine parade was closed to the public as it was a well used area for the surrounding area and more
A. This is something the company Eastport as put in and nothing to do with council
Q. What are the government plans to stop promoting ASB to the youths of today’s as a majority of the youths see ASB as a way to gain access to free bus passes, net books ,gym membership and a whole range of other stuff. Whilst those who behave according to the law receive nothing.
A. There are going to be changes in the way Anti Social Behaviour is dealt with
Q. Are you aware of 96kfreestyle?
A. Yes
The idea of fr33style was set up by a number of local youths and I to promote better behaviour within the community and to try to put some form of integration between the youths of today and the elderly back into the community and to receive activities and enjoyment, education without having to resort to ASB to gain benefits to these activities and privileges
Q. Will you be backing the fr33style project?
A. Yes
Brandon is not shy when it come to activities he completed the London Marathon in 2005, 2008 raising around £10,000 for charity.
Finally
Q. Is there a reason why we prioritise for the holiday makers, doing fireworks every Wednesday but as soon as summer ends the local people are left with nothing not even on November the 5th
Brandon did not seem aware of this and explained that this was something the tourists information centre arranged nothing to do with the Yarmouth council.
Maybe the Great Yarmouth tourist information centre could look into how many locals work in the tourist industry in Great Yarmouh and reward the locals to err say fireworks on November the 5th for the children of Great Yarmouth !! Free of charge of course ..........
I would like to thank Brandon on behalf of 96k and I for this interview.
I look forward to the next one
