National Citizen Service Comes to Yarmouth

12 Apr 2011

One Big Summer is a way for 16 year olds to spend part of their summer holiday, taking part over three weeks including residential camps and then completing 30 hours of volunteering to make it through to the Big Graduation event.

If you’re in Year 11, National Citizen Service is an exciting chance to do something different during your summer holiday. Taking part will let you:

    learn some new skills
    meet new people
make a real difference to your community or an issue you care about

National Citizen Service will take place during the summer after you finish Year 11. It will run for three weeks full-time, including two weeks away from home. After that, you’ll need to complete another 30 hours on a part-time basis.

Working in a team, you’ll have the chance to take part in exciting outdoor activities like mountaineering, canoeing and abseiling.

You’ll also get the opportunity to design and deliver your own project in your local community. This could mean working with other young people to improve the area where you live, benefiting everyone who lives there.

Should you like to know more about the project please contact Ian Hill (ian.hill@ncfc-canaries.co.uk), who will be running the Great Yarmouth programme this summer.

Get involved, have fun.
