Yesterday, we opened our Field of Remembrance at Lydiard Park near Wootton Bassett, in the presence of HRH Prince Harry. This Field is covered with thousands of Remembrance Crosses, each carrying a personal message to a Service man or woman who lost their life whilst serving in Afghanistan.
It was a simple and dignified ceremony that moved all those there paying their respects. Many of the friends and families of the fallen were present, including Amanda Binnie, the widow of Sean Binnie. For Amanda, this is a particularly difficult week as Sean would have been 24 years old tomorrow, 11th November.
Thank you for wearing your Poppy with pride and for all the support you have given to the Legion during this Remembrance time. If you would like to make a donation to the Poppy Appeal please visit our website.
