Bank holiday Monday May 31st saw a sea of Wally’s. This was Great Yarmouth’s second attempt to beat America. On how many where’s Wally characters in one place all at one time.
Many excited children, adults and especially canines joined in the fun. Liza the guide dog also took part in being a Wally. The attention she got from everyone was amazing. Comments flying around and laughs that could be heard from a far. The atmosphere in the town was incredible. People were talking, giggling and having a good time. To which is fantastic for a whole community to come together on an event like this.
Unfortunately we didn’t beat the world record of Wally’s, but we did enjoy the brilliant music, dancing and singing that roared through the Market place. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who dressed up, took part and made the event. Plus all the hard work from the organisers that put this excellent community event together. Well done 930 Wally’s, not including canines. Everyone taking part, including those already having Wally costumes, were still asked to pay, if they haven't already done so, a registration fee of £1 which is being equally split between two charities, MacMillan Cancer Care and Have a Heart Appeal which gives money to local children's charities.
This honestly was such a positive successful day. Lets hope we might be lucky 3rd time round.
