What Could Your Group Do With £10,000?
Local groups in Great Yarmouth are being given the opportunity to apply for a grant up to £10,000 from the Working Neighbourhoods Fund Small Grants programme to help tackle worklessness and low levels of skills and enterprise in the Borough of Great Yarmouth. WNF Small Grants is a sponsored initiative, funded by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, run in partnership with Voluntary Norfolk. It is set to run until March 2011. The programme has assisted many different projects since it was launched in September 2009, including volunteering projects, a mental health user group, youth activities, employment and training support and much more.
Sarah Moore, from Growing Changes, one of the groups that have already benefited from the fund, said: “The group had an idea - a new green volunteering project for Yarmouth. We talked to Voluntary Norfolk who helped us develop our plans, skills and knowledge and apply for WNF funding. We are thrilled to be launching our new project this summer.”
Helen Johnson, Small Grants Officer with Voluntary Norfolk, said: “We can assist groups that want to take up this opportunity and give them additional support and guidance.
I would urge local charities, social enterprises and voluntary and community groups to apply for a grant so that we can provide more opportunities for local residents living in our rich and diverse communities.”
The closing date for applications is now Wednesday 04 August at 12 noon. For further information please contact your local Neighbourhood Management Programme or
Helen Johnson on 01493 845 925 or Helen.johnson@voluntarynorfolk.org.uk
